Lawsuits against Johnson & Johnson allege a possible link between its talcum powder based products and ovarian cancer. A jury recently awarded $72 million to the family of a woman who died of ovarian cancer.
Lawsuits state that the manufacturers failed to warn users of the increased risk of ovarian cancer caused by using talc-based products for personal hygiene use, despite knowledge of this adverse side effect. Plaintiffs allege these companies intentionally made the decision not to warn consumers that the powder could cause cancer if it travelled through the vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes to the ovaries after being applied to the genital area or on sanitary napkins, diaphragms, or condoms.
Talcum powder products include:
- Johnson’s Baby Powder by Johnson & Johnson
- Shower to Shower by Valeant Pharmaceuticals
- Baby Magic Baby Powder

IVC filters are used to prevent blood clots from entering the lungs, heart, or brain by filtering and breaking down clots in the bloodstream. Reported cases show the IVC blood clot filter causing blot clots where inserted. There are also incidences of the device moving or breaking apart, damaging veins and internal organs.
The IVC Filter lawsuits claim the manufacturers failed to warn patients and physicians of the increased risks of the filters breaking, and metal fragments moving through the blood, potentially damaging an organ. The products involved in this lawsuit are The Bard Recovery filter; The Bard G2 filter; The Bard G2 Express filter; The Cook Gunther Tulip filter; and the Cook Celect filter. Other IVC filters causing problems include the Bard Eclipse, Bard Merdian, and Bard Denali.
Injuries from the IVC filter can lead to:
- Severe Bleeding
