Under Louisiana valued policy law, if a home suffers damage of a covered event (for example wind) and the house is considered to be a total loss, that is, it costs more to repair then the stated value of the home owners policy, then the insurance company may owe you the entire amount of the stated policy.
For example your house was flooded and was a total loss and you had damage to the roof, gutters, or chimney, which was clearly cause by wind, the insurance company may be required to pay 100% of your policy limits, even if you had no flood insurance or you collected all or part of your flood insurance.
